March Campout:
The March campout at the Livingston Girl Scout Lodge was very
well attended by our Scouts and three Webelos who wanted some
camping experience with Boy Scouts before they left Webelos.
In exchange for cabin rental payment, the Scouts did home repairs
such as building a shelf and painting the kitchen. The work was
coordinated by Mrs. Jovick and on the trip our newest Assistant
Scoutmaster, Mr. Hughes was invaluable in obtaining materials
and teaching the boys many new home repair skills.
Merit Badge Counselors:
I have the newest list of Merit Badge Counselors if you are interested
in a copy. I have created a Livingston, Emigrant list from the
District list so we can easily see who is available to help with
Merit Badges close to home. There are 26 Merit Badges (out of
119) that have no counselor on our side of the hill. Including:
American Cultures, American Heritage,
Animal Science, Archaeology, Archery
Aviation, Basketry, Cinematography,
Dentistry, Drafting, Entrepreneurship,
Farm Mechanics, Graphic Arts, Medicine,
Metalwork, Oceanography, Painting,
Public Health, Shotgun Shooting, Skating,
Small-Boat Sailing, Snow Sports,
Traffic Safety, Veterinary Medicine,
Water Skiing and Whitewater.
If you are interested or know someone who might be, take a look
at the requirements for a particular badge or badges and see
if you can facilitate the completion of all of its requirements.
Ask for a Adult Application from Mr. Andrews, fill it out and
return it to become a registered Merit Badge Counselor. Teaching
Merit Badges is not much work and is a great amount of fun. Please
help if you can. |
New Trailer:
As most of you are aware, we will be receiving a new
fully enclosed trailer, custom built to our specifications. We
won this trailer from our terrific sales of batteries. Mrs. Lemke
did a lot of phone work to make sure that we obtained the best
package deal. The options that the Troop Committee decided to
include are $201 more than the amount the battery sales folks
are providing. The rationale is that it is easier to include
these options while the trailer is built rather than at some
later time. Since we are going to have this trailer for many
years, it makes sense to invest a bit of money to make it really
nice. However, our Troop budget this year is quite tight and
we still must register the trailer for another $40. I am asking
all Troop families that can possibly afford an extra $10 to $20
to pay for the additional options. The Scouts and I thank you
in advance for your support.
April Campout:
April 29 - 30 we are planning a Troop campout. We hope to use
the Rustad's property, East of town as the campsite. We will
meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Lincoln School on Saturday, April 29th.
The trip will cost $7 which should be paid at the Scout meeting
on April 24th. During the campout the Scouts will be called upon
to help Danny on his Eagle Scout project. This will involve lots
of digging and other work. Work gloves are a good idea in addition
to the 10 outdoor essentials and overnight gear. Scouts will
also have an opportunity to earn Wilderness Survival Merit Badge
as well as work on other incompletes that they have. We plan
on meeting back at the Lincoln School at 2 p.m. on Sunday, April
30th. |
