Jere-Eagle Scout Candidate

Jere's Eagle Scout project has been to collect donations of eyeglasses, medical supplies and medications to be sent to the island of Guanaja, Honduras.  He has been collecting these items since early December.

Guanaja suffered from a devastating hurricane in 1997 and is still rebuilding.  The donations Jere collects will aid in the rebuilding process.

Jere will give his items to a medical team that is traveling to the Honduran island this spring.  The medical team travels to various communities around

the world, with a group from the Mt. Ellis Academy of Bozeman

Jere came up with the idea for the project after traveling last year to Sonora, Mexico, as a dental assistant with the same group of doctors that are going to Honduras this year.

Congratulations, Jere - you have made a difference.

One Cold Campout - 7 Scouts Receive 35
Frost Points at the Lawellin Ranch!
Nov. 22-23

Last weekend our scout troop, troop 563, went on a camp out to the Lawellin Ranch.  We had lots of fun. When we arrived it took about an hour to get our camp set up and then we got a fire going.  The Lawellin's were nice enough to donate a few hay bails for us to sit on.  We spent a lot of the afternoon playing our favorite game "Coal Hacking."  I won't get into the details but trust me

(cont. Sold Camp Out)
it's fun.  We had some hotdogs for lunch then for supper we all cooked on light weight stoves for a camping merit badge requirement.  Before bed we played "Hide-and-go-seek" tag for about and hour.  It was a cold night.  We got thirty five frost points.  We took our time packing up the next day.  After the camp out we went and started work on our annual fund-raising event, Christmas tree selling.  All in all it was a fun camp out.

Winter Camporee Jan. 10th & 11th

Dear Scouts and Families,

I want to thank all of you for your hard work during our December fund raiser.  We did quite well in spite of having to buy all of our trees this year.

We had a very fun camporee with lots of activities even though we only got 5 frost points for the weekend.

With this new year I hope to get lots of activities going and we want to plan a venture activity in the near future.  If any scouts have ideas please share them with me at any time.

Some of the troop went to the Camporee.  They had a good time but were disappointed that they didn't get many frost points!  On the up side, Seth's recipe for "Chunky Apple Sauce" won first place in the Dutch Oven Contest.

.

Last of all I would like to congratulate Jere on getting all his requirements finished for Eagle.  He has yet to attend his Eagle board of review, but knowing Jere, I know that he will do well

Good luck to all of the scouts and I hope they get many things accomplished this year.

Yours truly, Gregg Fawcett
