Troop Information

When does Troop 563 meet?
Every Monday night at 7:00 p.m. We end our meetings at 8:30 p.m. although junior leaders and the patrol responsible for clean up will stay about 15 minutes longer. Once every quarter a meeting is dedicated as a Court of Honor in which each Scout is awarded badges of rank and merit badges that they have recently earned. On occasion we will hold our meeting at a different location, or even on a different evening This allows for our use of another facility or to plan around another scheduled event that many of the boys are involved with. Please check our events page for our current meeting plans.

Where does Troop 563 meet?
We meet at the Grace United Methodist Church, 302 S 9th St., on the corner of Clark and 9th. Click here for a map! We meet in the basement each Monday at 7:00 p.m. We also utilize nearby playground space at the Winans School on the corner of Clark and 10th.

How is Troop 563 organized?
We are a "Scout run" troop. The Scouts decide the activities that they wish to participate in and the boys plan and execute each month's Troop outing. The Scouts provide their own leadership and discipline. We have a significant number of adult volunteers to aid the boys in obtaining permits, planning and safety. Adults accompany each outing to ensure safety and fair play among the Scouts. Each patrol has a Patrol Leader. All Patrol Leaders report to a Senior Patrol Leader. The Senior Patrol Leader reports to the Scoutmaster. The Scoutmaster and Assistants provide guidance where needed and offer training courses to develop leadership capabilities.

I am a second year Webelos and I may want to "cross over" to Troop 563.
If you are interested, please visit us at the Grace Methodist Church where you can see a meeting in action. You can take part in our meeting and attend one of our monthly campouts. We will help you earn your Arrow of Light and provide skills workshops toward an activity badge. Scouting is fun with a purpose!

How do I get more information?
You can send the Scoutmaster an email at eragon921@yahoo.com, or you can visit us at the Grace Methodist Church on most any Monday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Ask to speak with Scoutmaster Greg Fawcett. You can also check out our newsletters from this link.
